About the breed
The fastest dog in the world, often called the 'Ferrari' of dogs. Surprisingly, at home, they are often lazy couch potatoes.
Temperament
The Greyhound breed is known for its gentle, independent, noble, and quiet nature. They are high-energy dogs that require plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. Greyhounds are known for their patience and affection towards children, making them excellent family dogs.
Health & Genetics
The average lifespan of this breed is 10-13 years. Generally healthy, like all purebred dogs, they may be predisposed to certain genetic conditions. With larger breeds, it is important to pay attention to the joints (hip dysplasia) and prevent gastric torsion with proper feeding. Consistent preventative care and a quality diet are key to a long life.
Grooming Needs
Their coat is low-maintenance. Occasional brushing with a rubber glove is sufficient to remove dead hair. Regular checks of the eyes and ears, as well as nail trimming, are also important.

Training requires patience and consistency. They are intelligent but can be independent. Positive motivation with treats works best. Without sufficient activity, they can become bored and destructive, so dog sports like agility are ideal.

Due to their size, they thrive best in a family home with access to a garden. They can be content in an apartment with enough exercise, but they require a lot of space. The financial demands for food and veterinary care are higher than for small breeds.
