This is an exceptionally intelligent and devoted dog. They are deeply attached to their family and always ready to protect them. They require significant mental and physical stimulation, otherwise they can become destructive. This breed is not suitable for inactive owners.

Health & Genetics

Unfortunately, they are prone to hip and elbow dysplasia. Degenerative myelopathy and gastric torsion (bloat), a life-threatening condition requiring immediate surgery, are also common concerns.

Grooming Needs

The German Shepherd sheds year-round, requiring frequent brushing, especially during shedding seasons (spring/autumn). Bathe only when necessary. Pay close attention to ear hygiene.
